
Engineering Geologist (Wawa)
Job Description
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, or related discipline.
- Master's Degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in engineering geology.
- At least 5 years of experience in dams, hydropower, pumped storage, tunneling, or major underground infrastructure projects.
- Experience in construction supervision and geological investigations for large civil works.
- Review and validate geological mapping, borehole logs, and subsurface investigation data.
- Assess rock mass quality, structural geology, faults, fractures, and discontinuities.
- Evaluate geological conditions at dam, reservoir, tunnel, powerhouse, and ancillary structure locations.
- Interpret geotechnical and geophysical investigation results.
- Develop geological models to support engineering design and construction activities.
- Identify and assess geological hazards including landslides, slope instability, erosion, seepage, and seismic risks.
- Review contractor investigations and hazard mitigation measures.
- Provide recommendations for ground stabilization and hazard control.
- Monitor changing geological conditions during construction.
- Participate in risk assessments and dam safety reviews.
- Conduct geological inspections of excavations, tunnel faces, foundations, and slopes.
- Verify actual ground conditions against design assumptions.
- Supervise geological logging of drill cores and exposed rock surfaces.
- Recommend modifications to excavation and support measures where required.
- Coordinate with Resident Engineers and Contractors regarding geological findings.
- Review geological aspects of design reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Provide geological input for dam foundations, tunnels, caverns, slopes, and underground works.
- Support geotechnical and structural engineers in evaluating design assumptions.
- Assess seepage, groundwater, and foundation treatment requirements.
- Participate in constructability and value engineering reviews.
- Prepare geological assessment reports and technical memoranda.
- Maintain geological records, mapping, logs, and investigation databases.
- Participate in project meetings and technical reviews.
- Coordinate with designers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Support compliance with dam safety, environmental, and project requirements.
