We are seeking a Commodity Buyer with proven purchasing experience who can immediately contribute to our team. This role requires a strategic thinker who thrives in fast-paced environments and can manage supplier relationships, negotiations, and cost-saving initiatives.
The Commodity Buyer will be responsible for the direct material purchase that includes various commodities such as Press parts and tubes. This role supports purchasing activities across multiple Mexico manufacturing facilities, while working closely with counterparts in US and globally to align strategies, share best practices, and drive projects forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage sourcing, cost management, and all purchasing facets for assigned commodities.
- Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers to align beneficial pricing, terms, and conditions.
- Support strategic initiatives such as VAVE, resourcing projects, and engineering changes.
- Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and cost drivers to identify opportunities for savings and risk mitigation.
- Support new program launches by ensuring supply chain readiness and cost competitiveness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Plant teams to align sourcing strategies and work through special projects.
- Support quality group with supplier performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain purchasing documentation, contracts, and compliance with company policies.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of purchasing or commodity management experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills with ability to manage cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Experience in supplier relationship management and strategic sourcing.
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret cost models, market data, and commercial terms.
- High sense of urgency, ownership, and ability to balance multiple priorities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across multiple teams.
