Copart is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager, General Ledger to lead core general ledger operations, close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting support. This role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of accounting records while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who can manage daily GL activity, support a fast-paced close process, and partner cross-functionally to improve efficiency, resolve issues, and support Copart’s growing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet support.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure deadlines are met.
- Review financial activity for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and Copart accounting policies.
- Investigate and resolve account variances, reconciliation breaks, and unusual transactions.
- Prepare and review supporting schedules for internal reporting, audits, and management review.
- Partner with AP, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, Operations, and other teams to ensure proper accounting treatment and issue resolution.
- Support external and internal audit requests, including PBC schedules and documentation.
- Identify and drive process improvements, standardization, and automation opportunities within the GL team.
- Assist with ERP enhancements, accounting system changes, and special projects as needed.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and performance support to staff accountants or senior accountants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA required
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger and financial reporting.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial close best practices.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
