About the Department
Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Maintaining communications on the department’s behalf, including monitoring phone line and email account.
- Responding to communications, taking action when necessary.
- Processing incoming review copy requests and ensuring they are filled in a timely manner.
- Facilitating requests from the media, including providing requested images and contacting authors for interviews.
- Processing reviews from media outlets.
- Overseeing student assistants by coordinating scheduling, delegating tasks, and ensuring the completion of tasks.
- Serving as the promotions contact and doing media outreach for a select group of client publishers.
- Conducting media research.
- Assisting the promotions team with ad-hoc tasks as needed, including semi-annual sales conference preparations and seasonal catalog production.
Assists in developing marketing communications, advertising, or publicity materials with a moderate to high level of guidance from others.
Performs one or more of the following marketing functions: marketing communications /advertising; Web blogs or digital marketing; market research; development or review and update of the marketing infrastructure and management of external sales agency relationships.
Performs other related work as needed.

- Some previous administrative work or publishing internship or related publishing experience.
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
- Fluency with Microsoft Office, Google office suite. and similar products, database, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
