The Opportunity
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Fitness Facility Specialist Intern to provide professional oversight of the Eagle Fitness Center during evening and weekend operations. This position serves as the primary on-site leader responsible for facility operations, student staff supervision, risk management, emergency response, and operational excellence across multiple fitness and wellness program areas. The successful candidate will help foster a safe, welcoming, and professional environment while supporting the university's commitment to student wellness and engagement.

Compensation
The compensation of this position is $25,200 which will be paid bi-weekly and includes an optional university meal plan. This internship does NOT include any fringe benefits such as housing or health insurance.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Experience supervising staff in recreation, fitness, facility operations, or a related environment.
Strong leadership, communication, customer service, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to effectively respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations.
CPR/AED/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification within a designated timeframe.
Ability to oversee multiple operational areas while maintaining safety and service standards.
Preferred
Associate's degree in Recreation, Exercise Science, Sports Management, or a related field.
Experience managing or supervising student employees.
Experience in fitness facility, recreation center, or wellness program operations.
Schedule
Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Evening, weekend, and special event coverage may occasionally be required.
