QAQC Specialist II - Industrial

Job Description

PURPOSE

Reporting to the QAQC Manager, the QAQC Specialist II plays a key role in supporting the planning, tracking and documentation of quality requirements across all Industrial projects. This position supports consistent quality execution by coordinating quality activities, participating in audits and inspections and contributing to timely project closeouts. 

This position applies professional knowledge in reviewing quality requirements and documentation to ensure alignment with internal quality programs, client specifications and applicable industry codes and standards, while serving as a technical mentor and resource to the QAQC Specialist I team members.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be constructed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Serve as the QAQC primary point of contact at the project level.
  • Perform QAQC document control, including organization, version control, and closeout of quality documentation.
  • Own and continuously improve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) including action plans, inspection coordination and documentation management.
  • Assist with identifying, documenting and tracking non-conformance reports (NCR’s) under the direction of the QAQC Manager.
  • Develop, update, and manage ITP action plans in Procore in collaboration with the QAQC Manager & Project Controls team
  • Monitor ITP progress and follow up with project teams to ensure inspections, documentation, and approvals are completed on time.
  • Lead QAQC kickoff meetings Independently to communicate quality requirements, inspection points and documentation expectations.
  • Provide feedback on QAQC processes and suggest improvements based on field and project experience.
  • Support the development, documentation and communication of QAAC processes and procedures.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to QAQC Specialist I team members, as appropriate.
  • Review, evaluate and validate material documentation, including Material Test Reports (MTRs) and validate material traceability data in Stratus.
  • Manage the coordination of material receipt documentation between the field, shop, and QAQC teams
  • Support QAQC closeout packages , ensuring completeness and compliance with project, client and contractual requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between project teams, the shop QAQC department, and the QAQC Manager to align on quality expectations.
  • Travel to job sites to support and participate in audits, inspections, and field quality reviews, providing quality input in support of the QAQC Manager.
  • Evaluate quality documentation to Identify gaps, missing information, or quality risks and exercise judgment in escalating findings and recommending follow-up actions.
  • Maintain and analyze QAQC records and data for accuracy to support reporting, trending, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support inspection planning and look-ahead activities, applying professional judgment ensure required inspections and documentation are ready in advance.
  • Collaborate with receiving, fabrication, and field teams to ensure quality documentation aligns with material and installation activities.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Associate’s degree in a related field OR equivalent practical experience (typically 4-5 years) in construction, fabrication, quality, or project execution activities, including exposure to applicable industry codes, standards and specifications.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word, used to analyze, evaluate and present quality and project-related information.
  • Familiarity with project management or fabrication software, such as Procore, Stratus, or similar systems preferred, but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to job sites as required

 

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer software and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Ability to interpret procedures and requirements, maintain accurate records and apply attention to detail in support of quality management processes.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset with willingness to ask questions and learn.
  • Ability to manage multiple workflows and shifting priorities.
  • Foundational understanding of construction or fabrication environments, or the ability to learn on the job.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and field settings, including job site environments.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally
  • Significant field and client interactions on construction job sites, which may require prolonged periods of standing, walking and/or climbing stairs
  • Occasional exposure to variety of temperature and weather conditions
