Job Description

Additional Responsibilities and Duties

  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
  • Use computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment/software:
    • AutoDesk Software (AutoCAD, Revit, NavisWorks)
    • Dassault Systems Software (SolidWorks, Visualize)
  • Help establish/utilize the Engineering Design Library:
    • 3D model library of parts
    • 2D block library of parts/details
    • Company best practice design guides
  • Provide accurate time estimates for work required.
  • Work effectively and efficiently alone or as a member of the team to design layouts, mechanical components, electromechanical components, and systems; utilize the team for help and to resolve design issues or other problems.
  • Thorough understanding of drafting principles and Manufacturing standards:
    • Drawing Standards
    • Weld Standards
    • Piping design Standards
    • Document Control Standards
    • Design Software Standards
    • Machining Standards
  • Apply sound drafting and design principles in development and documentation of products.
  • Select parts/materials/design components and apply part numbers as needed.
  • Able to use complex math needed in design development.
  • Produce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications.
  • Able to relay an idea/concept through conversation, freehand drawings, showing other design examples.
  • Capable of articulating ideas and concepts effectively through verbal communication, freehand sketches, or reference other design examples.
  • Effectively manage your own time and prioritize tasks.
  • Involved with schedules during all phases of design to ensure deliverables are reasonable for project execution.
  • Help maintain design schedules and design schedule awareness through interaction with all departments.
  • Create and maintain a Bill of Materials (BOM) for more than one project.
  • Be an active part of continuous improvement efforts.
    • Help identify areas in the Engineering department that may be a “bottle neck.”
    • Offer up ideas for improvement.
    • Effective communication with co-workers.
    • Identify the pros and cons of all solutions, conclusions, or approaches.
    • Understanding the importance of new information for both current and future problem-solving/decision-making.
  • Take part in conferences with customers as needed for design reviews and to provide answers as needed.
  • Perform job duties in an ethical and professional manner that aligns with CryoWorks Core Values.
  • Adherence to all established deadlines while maintaining comprehensive accountability for engineering deliverables and project requisites.
  • Ensures required services (drawings, specifications, estimation inputs) are delivered on time and to cost/quality standards.
  • Application and strict adherence to all CryoWorks Standards, along with compliance with customer and code specifications.

Skills Required

  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft 365 software and general data entry.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be detail oriented.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, prioritize work and manage last-minute demands appropriately.
  • Exceptional communication, written, and analytical abilities. Proficient in articulating ideas both verbally and in writing, demonstrating effective communication with stakeholders, Executive Management, colleagues, customers, vendors, and contractors, both one-on-one and in group settings.
  • Must be customer service orientated.
  • Utilize critical and analytical thinking.
  • Shall be attentive to other’s actions/reactions and understand why a reaction may have occurred.
  • Be motivating to co-workers. Help encourage others.
  • Be willing to share knowledge and train others how to perform a task.
  • Be willing to take the time to explain to others your idea(s) or why you feel something should be done differently.

Supervisory Responsibility

These positions do not manage or supervise staff.

Education, Work Experience, Skill Requirements, and Certifications

  • (Engineer) BSME or degree in relevant engineering or physics discipline.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process and techniques (forming, machining, welding, and inspection/testing) used in the manufacturing of fabricated metal parts.
  • Cryogenic, vacuum, and/or pressure equipment fabrication experience.
  • Experience with ASME Code Section VIII, B31.3 Piping Code, Vacuum Vessels and Process Vessels Standard practices are a plus.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and understand GD&T.
  • Competent in use of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to effectively present information to Management.

Minimum License, Certifications, Affiliations/Memberships, and CEU’s

·Valid California driver’s license and an insured vehicle in good working order.

Travel

·None expected – this is an on-site role in the Grapevine St. Office

Special Requirement

  • May be required to work weekends and holidays as business necessitates; schedules will be determined by management with at least 48 hours advance notice.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities are subject to change depending on the needs of the business.

Hourly Range: $26.00. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Compensation packages also include comprehensive benefits, 401K contribution and match, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement and more. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
