Senior Finance Analyst – Inventory & Supply Chain

What you'll be doing

 

Boots Opticians are looking for a Senior Finance Analyst – Inventory & Supply Chain to join our Controllership team, reporting into the Finance Manager – Working Capital, Margin & Cashflow. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a team that has a broad reach across pivotal business functions, including supply chain and trading.

You will use your knowledge of technical accounting and business operations to manage inventory recognition and movements, supplier funding processes, and provide support to teams cross-functionally. You will have responsibility for accurately delivering month end processes, as well as supporting with budgeting and forecasting within both margin and the supply chain cost centres.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Support the finance manager in accurate recording of sales, cost of sales and inventory as part of month end reporting
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for your areas of responsibility
  • Review inventory levels and assess provisions required
  • Manage inventory movements related to the returns processes
  • Support the finance manager with management of the supply chain cost centre
  • Work with the supply and commercial teams to provide useful and accurate reporting, as well as ad hoc support
  • Support with budget and forecasts for cost of sales  and the supply chain cost centre
  • Provide support for the external audit process for area of responsibility
  • Identify opportunities to drive efficiency in processes by further automation
  • Ad hoc projects as required

 

What you'll need to have (our must-haves)

 

  • Part-qualified or newly qualified (ACCA, CIMA etc.) accountant
  • Minimum of two years demonstrable experience working in a management accounting or financial accounting role
  • Experience of delivering to tight deadlines during a month end close
  • Knowledge and application of accounting standards for inventory under IFRS and USGAAP
  • Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate with senior finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Ability to proactively manage workload and deliver in a fast-paced, diverse environment
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to challenge the way things are and use technical accounting knowledge to improve processes
  • Strong Excel skills are essential

It would be great if you also have

  • Experience of SAP PEC and Power BI advantageous
  • Prior experience of working in a role with responsibility for inventory in a retail environment
  • Experience of management reporting, budgeting and forecasting
