Generac in S. Portland ME is hiring for a Lab Administrator. In this role you will own the day-to-day operations of a multi-disciplinary engineering lab supporting Electrical, Mechanical, Compliance, Integration & Firmware teams. This role keeps the lab running efficiently by organizing resources, streamlining workflows, ensure safety and work with the team to ensure a safe and accessible environment is maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lab Operations & Coordination
- Run daily lab operations, managing shared spaces, equipment, and schedules for maximum efficiency
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
Inventory & Equipment Management
- Own inventory, asset tracking, and consumables
- Oversee procurement, maintenance, repair, and calibration
- Act as the go-to for equipment issues and vendor coordination
Engineering Support
- Ensure tools, equipment, and test setups are ready when teams need them
- Eliminate bottlenecks by coordinating shared resources and logistics
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain safe lab conditions, perform audits, and ensure regulatory compliance
- Partner with Compliance on proper handling and storage standards
Process Improvement
- Standardize workflows, fix inefficiencies, and build scalable lab systems
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years in lab operations, engineering support, or similar environment
- 3+ years experience in a engineering electrical lab environment
- Experience working with engineering teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Integration, Firmware, or Compliance)
- Experience with inventory, asset tracking, or equipment management (Excel, SAP, other tracking tools)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an engineering lab environment
- Familiarity with calibration, safety, and compliance practices
- Experience improving processes or implementing tracking systems
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Proven problem-solver who can operate independently
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
