Memorial Sloan Kettering is seeking a Waste Management Specialist to follow established hospital procedures for handling, containment, and disposal of solid and infectious waste. This role will be located at our Koch Center Location.
Role Overview:
- Accurately scanning, segregating, packaging, and transporting various types of regulated medical waste
- Safely using equipment such as tuggers and scintillators during waste transport and screening
- Collaborating with departments like Radiation Safety for specialized waste handling
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized waste management environment
- Supporting overall hygiene and safety standards through daily sanitation tasks
- Ensure all waste is properly tagged and labeled per regulatory standards.
- Clean and disinfect waste management bins, room floors and walls; disinfect facility mops and ensure waste areas remain free of debris.
- Organize and prioritize waste bins and equipment for efficient processing and removal; maintain a tidy, hazard-free workspace.
- Proper and safe removal of linen, cardboard, recycling, RMW and Chemo waste
Key Qualification & Core Skills:
- Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding, safety-sensitive environment
- Willingness to handle regulated medical and pathological waste
- Attention to detail and adherence to regulatory guidelines
Additional Information.
- Schedule: Full-Time; 4:45pm-12:45am with every other weekend
- Location - 160 East 53rd Street, New York, NY
- Report to Supervisor, Environmental Services

Pay Range: $23.49 - $32.46
