Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Electrical Estimating & Tender Execution
- Prepare and support cost estimates for electrical scopes in repair, upgrade, and conversion projects (e.g., power systems, switchboards, cabling, instrumentation)
- Develop electrical work breakdown structures (WBS) and cost breakdowns aligned with project scope
- Coordinate with Electrical Engineering, Procurement, and Production teams to obtain accurate inputs
- Participate in bid reviews and technical-commercial clarifications
- Ensure timely completion of electrical cost estimates for tender submissions
Cost Analysis & Market Research
- Conduct market research on electrical equipment, materials, and subcontractor pricing
- Source and evaluate quotations for items such as cables, transformers, switchgear, and control systems
- Perform cost comparisons and benchmarking to enhance pricing competitiveness
- Utilize historical electrical project data to improve estimate accuracy
Commercial & Contract Support
- Review tender documents to identify key electrical scope and cost drivers
- Ensure estimates align with contractual requirements and client specifications
- Support preparation of technical-commercial documentation for bids
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and complete proposals
- Share insights on electrical cost drivers and industry pricing trends HSEQ Compliance
- Ensure compliance with HSEQ requirements, particularly for high-risk electrical and offshore operations
- Incorporate safety and regulatory requirements into cost estimates
Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on electrical systems, technologies, and pricing trends in the marine/offshore sector
- Contribute to post-project reviews and continuous improvement of estimating practices7
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, marine engineering, or related discipline
- 1–3 years of experience in cost estimating, quantity surveying, or project support, preferably with electrical systems in marine/offshore environments
- Exposure to electrical works in ship repair, offshore platforms, FPSO/FSRU/FSU conversions are advantageous
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and specifications
- Strong analytical and cost evaluation skills, particularly for electrical systems
- Detail-oriented with good coordination and communication abilities
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight tender deadlines
- Electrical Estimating: Prepare cost estimates for electrical systems (power
generation, distribution, cabling, controls, E&I works) - Costing & Pricing: Source and evaluate quotations for electrical materials,
equipment, and subcontractors - Tender Execution: Deliver timely and competitive bid submissions
- Commercial Awareness: Understand contractual and commercial implications of electrical scope
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project teams
- Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proficient in written and spoken English
