Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lee’s Summit Molding department is responsible for manufacturing plastic food containers using injection molding, thermoforming, and in-mold labeling (IML). The Molding department runs a 24/7 schedule with continental, 12-hour shifts.
Reporting to the Molding Shift Supervisor, the Molding Mixer is primarily responsible for replenishing resin and pigment to the molding machines. The Mixer will also perform Product and Color changes when required.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
Replenish Molding Materials (Resin / Pigment)
Visually check for low pigment levels at machines during scheduled times throughout the shift
Replenish the pigments at machines with low levels
Monitor and replenish resin supply when used from gaylord
Check resin levels in surge bins and silos and report to shift supervisor, as needed
Verify material deliveries as necessary and report resin shortages as needed
Check silos to ensure there is no resin leak and keep the surrounding area free of spill.
Perform daily cleaning of resin loading system and maintain accurate records
Inspect and clean hopper magnet and filters during daily scheduled cleaning and sign off cleaning documents
Manual mixing of resin and color as needed
Be familiar with Gravimetric blender operation basic steps in blending resin and color as needed, know to download and run different recipes
Keep records of resin/pigment lot traceability and submit reports daily
Assist in resin and pigment engineering trials as required
Drain resin from surge bins into gay-lords as required
Perform Resin/Color Changes
Perform tests to determine melt index for resin in Quality Control lab and keep records
Work on getting resin and pigment supply daily for mold changes and sign off mold change forms
Properly store uncontaminated pigment of used color in the color bins
Transport the color bins between warehouse and production floor
Ensure color units are operational
Perform Resin Change
Perform the resin change-over according to the schedule
Collect the used resin and properly store the uncontaminated resin in the surge bins
Inspect and Clean Machine hopper magnets and filters on a bi-weekly schedule and keep records
Report maintenance of machine hopper magnets and filters
Maintain color units and report color motor and blender issues to appropriate parties
Daily/Weekly/Monthly Mixer check list to be completed by Mixer
Documentation & Housekeeping
Complete the bi-weekly sign off sheet for magnet and machine hopper cleaning
Clean the production floor of any resin/pigment spill during replenishment
Clean the surge bin area clear off any resin / pigment
Maintain surge bin and pump room cleanliness at all times
Keep the pigment and gay-lord storage area clean and tidy and report any issues
Troubleshooting
Diagnose vacuum in material deliver lines and take appropriate actions
Escalate issues to maintenance when problem not resolved
Keep track of replacement hose and filter stocks and report as needed
Perform basic troubleshooting on the con air blender and escalate to any foreseen issues
Change color motor as necessary and advise maintenance if repairs are required

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Educational Requirements: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Minimum Experience/Field: Minimum six months of work experience.
Courses Required:
Computer Skills: Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Physical Requirements: Ability to carry, lift, and move up to 50 pounds. Ability to engage in prolonged standing, walking, and movements. Ability to reach above shoulder height and below waist length consistently. Ability to engage in frequent and repetitive body movements.
Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Previous experience handling the skyjack would be an asset.
