Position Overview:  
The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring world-class responsiveness, on-time delivery, and operational excellence in the manufacturing of corrugated packaging products. This position utilizes industry-specific planning and scheduling systems to effectively allocate work across manufacturing machine centers while maximizing throughput, balancing capacity, and supporting customer delivery requirements.
The Production Planner serves as a critical link between Customer Service, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Leadership teams by gathering, analyzing, and communicating information necessary to optimize production schedules and meet customer expectations. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on safety, quality, service, and efficiency.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain production schedules to ensure customer requirements and delivery commitments are met.
  • Allocate manufacturing work across machine centers to maximize throughput and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize scheduling and planning software to balance machine capacity, labor availability, and production priorities.
  • Monitor production performance and adjust schedules as necessary to address changing business needs.
  • Facilitate and engage in daily meetings with PSC leaders and other Team Members.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service, Sales, Transportation, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to communicate schedule changes and production priorities.
  • Analyze production data, machine capacity, and workflow constraints to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate production planning information within scheduling and ERP systems.
  • Support inventory management initiatives by optimizing production flow and minimizing excess inventory.
  • Assist in prioritizing customer orders based on delivery requirements, material availability, and operational constraints.
  • Monitor key performance indicators including on-time delivery, schedule attainment, machine utilization, and throughput.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, service, quality, and waste reduction.
  • Generate reports and provide operational analysis to support decision-making.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and annual planning activities as required.
  • Maintain effective communication with all departments to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Training, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field; or equivalent production planning and scheduling experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed scheduling decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy while working under deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in corrugated packaging, folding carton, printing, converting, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with ERP, MRP, scheduling, or manufacturing planning software.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Theory of Constraints, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with production capacity planning and inventory management.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of computer systems, telephone, and office equipment.
  • Occasional walking throughout manufacturing and warehouse environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with office and production personnel.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an office environment with frequent interaction with manufacturing operations. The role requires collaboration with production personnel, customer service representatives, transportation teams, and leadership to ensure customer commitments are achieved while maximizing operational efficiency. Occasional exposure to manufacturing environments, noise, and production activities may be required.

Pay Range: $78,600 - $107,100 per year
