Job Description
Location: Arnett Hospital - Labor and Delivery
Schedule: Full-Time, Night Shift (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
Rotation: Weekends & Holidays | On-Call as Needed

Arnett Hospital is seeking a dedicated Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our Labor & Delivery team in a dynamic dual-role position that blends CST and Unit Support Technician (UST) responsibilities.
CST Responsibilities:
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections (scheduled and emergency)
- Occasionally support GYN surgeries (infrequent)
- Scrub in and perform traditional OR duties including passing instruments and first assist
- Work exclusively within the L&D unit, including our dedicated OR
- Transport instruments, stock rooms, and prepare/setup the OR
- Collaborate with a second CST on each shift to ensure comprehensive coverage
UST Responsibilities (during CST downtime):
- Staff the L&D front desk and interact with visitors
- Escort patients from registration to the unit
- Answer phones and schedule procedures
- Admit newborns into Cerner at the time of delivery

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
• Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA within four months of employment.
• Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
• Requires the ability to resource advanced technology.
• Requires 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law.
• Requires knowledge of various surgical procedures in order to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and to recognize the problems encountered by the surgeon within 12 months of employment.
• Requires knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
