Principal Scientist and Research Associate - Organic/Peptide/Scaleup/Antibody Drug Conjugation (ADC)
Job Description
Principal Scientist:
Lead and manage a multidisciplinary scientific team of 12-15 FTEs ensuring high-quality project delivery.
Handle client communications and independently manage technical calls with global stakeholders.
Oversee project planning, execution, timelines, and resource allocation.
Provide scientific guidance, troubleshooting, and mentoring to team members.
Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and organizational standards.
Collaborate cross-functionally to support business and operational goals.
Organic Chemist:
Hands-on experience in performing chemical reactions from mg to gram scale independently under scientific guidance
Strong knowledge of analytical and purification techniques, including NMR, Mass, HPLC, CombiFlash, and column chromatography
Skilled in handling reaction setups, glassware assemblies, reagent charging, temperature control, and nitrogen operations
Excellent documentation and data management practices with the ability to follow scientific procedures, patents, and experimental instructions accurately
Peptide Chemist:
Hands-on expertise in solid-phase and solution-phase peptide synthesis using automated synthesisers like Syro and Liberty CEM
Strong experience in peptide purification, characterisation, and analytical techniques, including HPLC, LCMS, and MS
Capable of independently handling medium- to large-scale peptide synthesis (1 g to 1 kg scale) with troubleshooting abilities
Skilled in laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, SHE compliance, literature review, and accurate experimental documentation
Scaleup Chemist:
Experience in process R&D, scale-up synthesis, and purification from gm to kg scale
Skilled in handling 50L/100L GLR assemblies and basic technology transfer activities
Proficient in 1H NMR, HPLC, and LCMS interpretation
Strong project execution and team collaboration skills
Antibody Drug Conjugation Chemist (ADC)
Synthesis and purification of complex antibody drug conjugate (ADC) molecules
Synthesis of different types of linkers – using natural and unnatural amino acids, PEGs
Synthesis of highly potent drug molecules – payloads
Purification of complex and large molecules by flash column and HPLC
Handling various type chemistry with different payloads
Interpretation and characterisation of higher molecular weight compounds
