Job Description
Duties Responsibilities Administration Ensures adequate staffing for all dining units. Actively recruits and hires new student employees using print, digital media, social media and in person. Effectively manages the application and onboarding process for student employees. Assists in the further development of the Housing Employment System (online HR program). Coordinates and implements policies and procedures for student employees within Dining Services. Coordinates work schedules for student employees using electronic scheduling system. Conducts annual review and updates of the Student Employee Handbook. Analyzes and reports student employment statistics to Executive Team and Dining Management team. Maintains accurate records for student employees including applications and training records. Reviews and analyzes productivity, financial and retention reports and suggests corrective action. Assists in organizational development; participates in planning future installations; studies and recommends student staffing needs. Training Trains student employees in the delivery of services, which includes the safe handling and presentation of food, setting up for catering events (formal and informal), providing good customer service, and maintaining the general appearance of a dining room or retail location. Develops classroom, on-the-job and online training materials for student employees and those who work with students in the dining units. Works with the Culinary Training Coordinator to develop general training materials for all of Dining. Coordinates mandatory Illinois food handler training, safety, and proper maintenance training programs for student employees. Counsels employees and supervisors concerning departmental objectives for student employees. Works with International Student Services to address the special needs of international student employees. Supervision Provides direct supervision of students working `within the student employment office. Oversees student employee discipline and serves as the first step in the discipline appeal process. Oversees evaluation process for all student employees, develops evaluation system, and execute with supervisors. Performs other related duties as assigned.
