The Medical Staff Attendant supports the Athletics Sports Medicine program by assisting the Medical Director and Sports Medicine staff with daily operations in the athletic training room, during team practices, and at athletic competitions. This role focuses on providing first-line support, maintaining a safe and organized medical environment, and assisting with athlete care under the supervision of licensed medical professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Athlete Support & Event Coverage
Assist Sports Medicine staff in the athletic training room, including preparation and breakdown of treatment areas
Support medical coverage at team practices, home events, and assigned away competitions
Monitor athletes in the medical room and report concerns to the Medical Director or Athletic Trainer
Assist with basic first aid and emergency response under supervision and within scope of training
Medical Room Operations
Set up, clean, and maintain treatment tables, equipment, and medical supplies
Sanitize equipment and treatment areas in accordance with health and safety standards
Assist with inventory tracking and restocking of medical supplies
Ensure the athletic training room remains organized, clean, and compliant
Administrative & Program Support
Assist with documentation, sign-in logs, and communication as directed
Escort athletes as needed within athletic facilities
Support injury prevention initiatives and general athlete wellness programming
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Medical Director
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before start date)
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours based on practice and game schedules
Ability to follow medical protocols and maintain confidentiality (HIPAA/FERPA awareness)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in athletics, sports medicine, healthcare, or a collegiate athletic setting
Enrollment in or completion of coursework related to athletic training, kinesiology, exercise science, nursing, or a related field
Familiarity with NCAA athletics (Division II preferred)
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (coolers, medical kits, equipment)
Ability to work in indoor and outdoor athletic environments
