Your role at a glance

The Solutions Engineer, Thailand will work closely with the Sales and Product teams as a key role in the Sales process to be the data center subject-matter expert, owner of the technical requirements, and responsible for developing solutions required to win the deal. The candidate is a customer-facing technical professional who partners closely with Enterprise/Retail Sales teams to design, propose, and support colocation solutions for enterprise, mid-market, and carrier customers in Thailand.

This individual is an integral part of the Sales process. This position provides pre-Sales technical support to the Global NTT GDC Sales team in Thailand. You will help prospective customers and partners understand our building systems, explaining the technical features and serving as the subject matter expert on all data center products, services, and solutions to help the Sales team close business deals. The Solutions Engineer will be responsible for presenting solutions, generating quotes, and leading tours of the NTT GDC facilities in Thailand. This position requires a self-starter, Solutions-centric, and a personable team player able to build cooperative relationships with individuals.

What we are looking for

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary technical resource for Retail and Enterprise sales opportunities.
  • Design producible and standardized colocation solutions.
  • Lead technical discussions, workshops, and site tours.
  • Support RFP/RFI responses, quotes, proposals and solution documentation.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, Operations, and Delivery teams.
  • Owner of the technical and data center solutions in the Solutions process.
  • Engage and often lead Solutions discussions with prospects, customers, and partners (either in person or via conference calls) with Account Executives when a technical resource is needed.
  • Maintain positive customer relations throughout the Solutions process to earn customers' current and future business and trust.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between customers and the product and operations team to ensure supportable solutions and designs.
  • Host tours of the NTT GDC data centers.
  • Respond to, maintains, and stores answers to technical RFP questions.

Knowledge & Attributes:

  • Must be comfortable speaking with clients, possess a keen listening ability, and be a solid presenter.
  • Expert level understanding of modern data centers and IT client data center requirements.
  • Proficient with software applications such as AutoCAD, Tileflow (CFD Modeling), Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project Outlook, SharePoint, Oracle, and Solutionsforce.
  • Able to work effectively in a cross-functional multi-site team environment.
  • Must be able to manage stress in a fast-paced environment effectively.
  • Must be an excellent problem solver and creative thinker.
  • Engages customers to extract critical technical and business drivers that may position client deliverables.
  • Strong in-depth expert working knowledge of data center infrastructure, including electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Comfortable with different modeling solutions based on kilowatt delivery to a customer environment
  • Network, cloud services, storage, and experience with other technologies found in our customers' environments are highly desired.
  • Must be a team player willing to promote and encourage open communication in a team environment.
  • Product knowledge - knowing and explaining product features/benefits and competitive position, understanding customer's business operations and needs, understanding, and responding to the competition, gathering and applying market knowledge.

Academic Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Highly Recommended: BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or equivalent education and/or work experience in computer-related field usually obtained with 5+ years of related technical Solutions in a wholesale data center environment is a must.
  • Working experience with Solutionsforce and Oracle is a must, coupled with extensive RFP and RFI processes.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of Solutions Engineering experience (or equivalent) in the Data Center or Colocation industry with an in-depth understanding of the Sales process.
  • History of successfully presenting to senior-level prospects and customer contacts.
  • Effective at working with 3rd party contractors and vendors to aid in designing large customer infrastructure deployments.   
  • Working knowledge in developing a bill of materials and scope of work to meet large customer infrastructure deployment requirements.   
  • Maintains familiarity with competitive offerings to effectively position products and solutions in a competitive environment.
  • Extensive knowledge base in the Mission Critical Data Centers and Facilities Marketplace.

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily sitting with some days of extensive walking to deliver technical tours in large data centers.
  • Able to hear and speak on a telephone.
  • Close visual work on a laptop computer that requires the dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

Work Conditions & Other Requirements:

  • Part office and part home work environment with extensive daily usage of a laptop computer.
  • Walking in a Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.
  • Works remotely with periodic visits to data centers and clients' offices nationwide, which involves traveling up to 25% of the time.
  • Must possess a current, valid government issued ID.
