Director Financial Planning and Analysis

 

 

Based in Parramatta

Ongoing position available

$247,865 - $272,811 total remuneration payable

 

 

Your role

 

We are seeking an accomplished financial leader to oversee the Financial Planning and Analysis function and drive high-quality decision-making across the organisation. As Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, you will lead the Department’s management reporting and resource allocation functions, working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the departments Executive to shape financial strategy and outcomes. You will provide expert advice on budget allocation, financial forecasting, and performance insights, while ensuring robust reporting across the Department and Portfolio, including whole-of-government requirements.

 

What you’ll do

 

As the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis you will:

 

  • Deliver high-quality financial analysis and reporting to strengthen portfolio performance and support strategic and operational objectives.
  • Evaluate financial, strategic, and operational implications of funding proposals for submission to NSW Treasury.
  • Provide expert advice to the CFO on budget management, forecasting, and financial risks across the Department.
  • Optimise financial resource allocation and support senior management through clear communication of budgets, forecasts, and financial insights.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across government and agencies to support financial governance, obligations, and priorities.
  • Oversee reporting frameworks, grants budgeting, and financial systems to ensure compliance, continuous improvement, and high-performing team capability.

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • Proven senior executive experience building and sustaining collaborative partnerships that drive customer-focused outcomes and informed decision-making.
  • Strong strategic mindset with demonstrated financial and operational acumen, delivering sustainable outcomes while effectively managing risk.
  • Advanced analytical capability with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership in leading high-performing teams, with a strong commitment to values-based leadership, setting clear expectations, modelling organisational values and behaviours, and fostering an inclusive, ethical and accountable culture.
