Job Description

We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 800+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 18 office locations in Canada.  We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of advisory services with over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. As our new Early Career Acoustics Consultant/Engineer, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

Role

SLR’s Acoustics & Vibration team provides professional consulting services for a wide scope of projects ranging from city scale environments, building and interior space design, industrial facilities, and specialized underwater assessments.

If you’re excited by data analysis, architectural drawing reviews, acoustic modelling, field measurements, and applied problem solving, this role will give you hands-on experience and direct mentorship from industry experts.

You will collaborate closely with team members on a wide array of private and public projects, ranging from new construction and retrofits to environmental noise studies and vibration assessments. This is a role where your curiosity, initiative, and technical rigor will make a visible impact.

Responsibilities:

Technical + Project Work

  • Conduct acoustic and vibration measurements, analyze data, and develop modelling predictions.
  • Review acoustic design of buildings.
  • Prepare clear, high quality technical reports and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with instrumentation setup, maintenance, calibration, and software applications used in acoustics, noise, and vibration studies.
  • Support the development of new models, tools, and analytical methods.
     

Collaboration + Communication

  • Work closely with consultants, engineers, project managers, and technical specialists across SLR’s “One Team” environment.
  • Maintain positive, professional communication with clients, and regulators.
  • Contribute to SLR’s strong industry reputation through excellent delivery and relationship building.
     

Project & Business Exposure

  • Monitor your utilization goals and contribute to the financial success of project work.
  • Support business development efforts, including preparing proposals, gathering project information, and assisting senior staff in client engagements.

Here’s what else you’ll enjoy as part of our team:

  • The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000. Final agreed-upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:

  • Degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, physics, or related studies.
  • Professional status or eligibility (e.g., P.Eng.) is an asset.
  • Experience (co op, internship, or early career) in acoustics, noise, and vibration is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of noise and vibration measurement, prediction, or evaluation methodologies is considered an asset.
  • Experience with acoustic modelling tools (e.g., Insul, CadnaA, CATT, Odeon, EASE, SAP2000, Visual Basic, MATLAB or Python for signal processing) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of provincial, local, and industry specific regulations and guidelines.
  • Strong communication, problem solving skills, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Awareness of workplace Health & Safety requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel periodically to job sites.
  • Based in Guelph, ON with flexible work options available.
