Overview:
The Housekeeping Supervisor is a key member of the hospitality team, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, tidiness, and comfort in all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house service areas. This role serves as a "working leader" and central communications hub, combining hands-on room inspections with dedicated departmental coordination and dispatch duties.
The position involves leading, training, and motivating the Housekeeping Team Members, while simultaneously managing the property management system (PMS) and real-time communication networks. The goal is to consistently deliver exceptional service in line with the unique local and energetic culture of the Canopy brand and the prestige of the Deer Valley location.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Housekeeping team (Room Attendants and House Attendants), including assigning work duties and managing shift schedules.
- Manage, train, and mentor new and existing Team Members to ensure performance meets required brand, cleanliness quality standards.
- Address and resolve Team Member conflicts and substandard work, including proper documentation and reporting to the Executive Housekeeper or management.
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings, communicating key priorities, VIP arrivals, special requests, and any pertinent in-house guest requests or projects.
Quality Control & Operations:
- Routinely perform detailed inspections of all guest rooms (check-out and occupied rooms), corridors, service areas, and store rooms to ensure cleanliness and maintenance are at the highest standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to Canopy by Hilton brand standards and company policies at all times.
- Schedule and supervise deep cleaning projects and other special cleaning initiatives as directed by management.
- Efficiently manage stock control of all housekeeping supplies, linen, and equipment, assisting with periodic inventory counts and placing orders.
Guest Service & Maintenance
- Provide excellent, personalized Guest service, promptly responding to all guest requests (including VIP and special requirements) in a friendly and professional manner and ensuring follow-up.
- Report and follow up immediately on any maintenance defects or other issues identified in guest rooms or throughout the property by completing and tracking necessary work orders.
- Manage the Lost and Found program with care and integrity, documenting, logging, and tracking items according to hotel procedure.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all Team Members use proper safety techniques, including the safe and correct use of chemicals and equipment in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain key control and ensure all security and safety standards are met, particularly regarding access to back-of-house areas, communication stations, and guestrooms.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate or bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or a related field is a distinct advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hotel Front Office role is required
- At least 1 year in a supervisory, senior agent, or equivalent leadership capacity within a hospitality setting is a must
- Previous experience in a Housekeeping supervisory role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment. Hilton brand experience is a plus.
- A successful track record of leading and motivating a team.
- Strong organizational skills, analytical ability, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with staff, guests, and other departments.
- A passion for delivering exceptional levels of guest service and a commitment to maintaining a positive work environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods, exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and lift/carry/push/pull cleaning carts and equipment.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for training staff, managing high-volume radio and telephone traffic, coordinating with the Front Desk, F&B and Engineering teams, and interacting positively with guests.
- Strong, decisive, and critical-thinking abilities to quickly prioritize competing requests and address unexpected operational issues (e.g., staffing shortages, maintenance emergencies, urgent guest requests, and immediate room-turnaround dispatching).
- High degree of personal organization, time management, multitasking, and the ability to prioritize tasks and live dispatch queues in a fast-paced environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail required for routine and deep-cleaning room inspections to ensure absolute adherence to Canopy/Hilton brand standards.
- Proficiency in managing linen, chemical, and supply inventory, including stock control, ordering, and minimizing waste.
- Thorough knowledge of proper chemical handling procedures, cleaning equipment operation, and OSHA/Hotel safety regulations regarding bio-hazardous waste, key control, communication station protocols, and workplace safety.
- Familiarity with hotel software (e.g., OnQ PMS, HotSos) and service tracking applications for real-time dispatching, updating room statuses, tracking maintenance requests, and managing departmental reports.
- Ability to identify, report, and follow up on common room maintenance defects (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) through the immediate creation and tracking of digital work orders.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, based on the operational needs of a 24/7 hotel environment.
