As Human Resources Manager – Global Businesses and Functions, you will report to the HR Director in the Lisbon Capability Centre and provide HR advisory support for approximately 250 employees. You will be part of the HR Delivery team aligned to the EMESA region and connected to a broader HR Advisory team supporting business and function employees globally.
This role plays an important part in supporting diverse, dynamic, and globally connected teams. You will translate global people strategies into local practices, apply Portuguese employment law knowledge, and work across cultures and regions to help BCG teams receive thoughtful, practical, and high-quality HR support. The work requires strong teaming, cultural awareness, and a service mindset in a matrixed environment, as well as a discreet, diligent, and structured working style.
In this role, you will:
- Provide day-to-day HR advisory support to leaders, people managers, and employees, helping them navigate career planning, performance management, manager coaching, employee relations, learning and development, and compensation-related matters with clarity and care.
- Manage employee relations matters from intake through resolution by assessing the situation, handling sensitive information with discretion, identifying the right path forward, coordinating the necessary HR and business inputs, and supporting outcomes that are fair, practical, and aligned with local practices.
- Apply Portuguese employment practices and regulations to local HR decisions, policies, and processes, ensuring relevant legal changes are understood, translated into action, and reflected in how HR support is delivered in the Lisbon Capability Centre.
- Support business model and organizational change needs by translating global or regional HR approaches into clear local plans, anticipating implementation considerations, and helping leaders and managers understand what is changing, why it matters, and how to act on it.
- Lead LCC HR projects from beginning to end, including process alignment, harmonization efforts, benefits programs, vendor changes, and other local HR priorities by defining the workplan, aligning the right teams, tracking progress, and ensuring deliverables land accurately and on time.
- Coordinate across HR Business Partners, Talent Partners, and Centers of Excellence to bring the right expertise into people matters, connect local needs with regional and global approaches, and ensure employees and managers receive joined-up HR support.
- Build trusted relationships with senior partners, leaders, managers, and global HR colleagues by communicating clearly, adapting your style across audiences, and influencing constructively in a matrixed environment.
- Mentor and support junior HR colleagues by sharing expertise, providing practical guidance, and contributing to a collaborative HR team environment that values learning, discretion, diligence, and high-quality delivery.
- ~7 years of experience in HR advisory, employee relations, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of Portuguese employment practices and practical application in local HR matters.
- Experience advising leaders on employee relations, performance, career, compensation, and change topics.
- Ability to structure HR projects, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Strong communication and influencing skills across senior, matrixed, and multicultural teams.
- A discreet, diligent, and structured approach to sensitive and confidential people matters.
- Proficiency with HR systems and tools, including Workday, Excel, and PowerPoint.
You will work closely with the HR Director in Lisbon, the LCC HR Delivery team, and HR colleagues across EMESA and the broader global HR Advisory community.
You will partner with HR Business Partners, Talent Partners, and Centers of Excellence across HR Shared Services, Learning and Development, Career Development, Talent, and Compensation to bring the right expertise into local people topics.
