WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US:
The Senior Category Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement and management of specific categories of goods and services, ensuring alignment with business objectives, cost-efficiency, and compliance with procurement policies.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned categories, ensuring alignment with Simcorps business goals and operational requirements
Manage supplier relationships, negotiating contracts and ensuring that suppliers meet performance expectations and service levels
Conduct market research and industry analysis to identify potential suppliers, evaluate options, and recommend cost-effective solutions
Collaborate with business units to understand their needs and ensure that procurement activities support their goals and requirements
Monitor supplier performance, ensuring that service level agreements (SLAs), quality standards, and contractual obligations are met
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations, mitigating risks associated with procurement activities
Analyze procurement data and report on key metrics, such as cost savings, supplier performance, and procurement cycle times
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline procurement processes, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency
Lead the procurement process for complex or high-value contracts, including tendering, evaluation, and negotiation
Provide mentorship and support to junior category managers and procurement staff, building a collaborative and results-driven team environment
Ownership of complex IT sourcing and SaaS renewals, including strategic vendor negotiations
Ability to operate independently and manage senior stakeholders (IT, Business, Finance)
Type of work this role engages with:
Close coordination with SAM, specifically:
Translating usage, licensing, and optimization insights into commercial strategy
Supporting governance principles such as tool rationalization, cost optimization, and avoiding overlap
Managing procurement activities for specific categories of goods and services, ensuring strategic alignment with business needs
Negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships to ensure optimal performance and value delivery
Conducting market research and supporting cost-saving measures in the procurement process
Mentoring junior procurement staff and contributing to the development of best practices in category management
Spend analysis: Process and analyze relevant data to segment suppliers and identify savings and consolidation opportunities
WHAT WE VALUE
5 years or more of experience in category management and procurement
Strong understanding of end-to-end lifecycle management (intake, contracting, renewal)
Experience in developing and executing strategic sourcing plans, managing supplier relationships, and improving continuous improvement in procurement processes.
Ability to work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure that procurement activities deliver value while mitigating risks.
Have good analytical skills with attention to details
Have advanced English communication skills, both verbally and in writing
Other requirement:
Able to work in the EMEA time zone
2x RTO per week
