Duties and responsibilities

Conduct training internal or external on relevant new topics, including creating materials

Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments, under high level guidance of the Architect

Provide expert level guidance on BGP routing issues

Review Change MOPs from other engineers for technical approval and escalate those which are outside of your knowledge

Manages complex project based work to the required deadlines based on high level guidance from the Architect.

Resolve complex and new faults through applying existing fundamental knowledge of the systems in use

Uses network management software and tools to investigate and diagnose network problems, collect performance statistics and create reports, working with users, other staff and suppliers as appropriate.

Provides reports and proposals for improvement, to specialists, users and managers.

Support our Sales teams with complex solutions, including engagements directly with customers

Engage with Product Management to explore new product ideas and develop ways of integrating these with the RISE network while ensuring the existing network remains stable and supportable

Take a leadership role in handling Network capacity (service bandwidth and hardware capability) and advocating for needed upgrades

Create capacity reports as required by leadership

Constantly investigate new technologies and their applicability to the RISE network

Design and test new network solutions to meet the needs of Product Management and/or to improve the efficiency of current networks

Create documentation for your solutions to ensure they remain supportable by the wider team

Plans, schedules and monitors work of both self and others involved in project work to meet time and quality targets
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of related experience
- Experience in developing methods of procedure and operational design work
- Advanced understanding of IP networking concepts that would be roughly equivalent to JNCIP level, including an understanding of MPLS/RSVP in carrier networks.
