Cottage Care (Memory Care) Program Director

The Cottage Care (Memory Care) Program Director is responsible for leading the daily operations of our Memory Care neighborhood while creating an engaging, person-centered environment that promotes dignity, independence, purpose, and quality of life for every resident.
This role combines leadership, team development, resident advocacy, and innovative programming to ensure exceptional care and meaningful engagement for our Memory Care residents.
What You'll Do
Leadership & Team Development
Provide leadership and oversight to all Memory Care team members, including Med Techs, CNAs, and caregivers
Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop Cottage Care staff
Conduct onboarding, ongoing education, and state-required training
Foster a positive, collaborative, and resident-centered team culture
Partner with the Executive Director and Resident Care Director to ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance
Memory Care Programming & Resident Engagement
Develop and oversee innovative, person-centered activities and life enrichment programming
Create meaningful opportunities that support cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being
Incorporate life skills, sensory experiences, reminiscence programs, and therapeutic engagement into daily routines
Promote an environment that supports the unique needs of residents living with memory impairment
Encourage resident participation while honoring individual preferences, abilities, and life stories
Resident Care & Quality Assurance
Complete resident assessments and ensure timely documentation
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans
Collaborate with families and healthcare providers to ensure residents receive exceptional care
Monitor physician orders and ensure follow-through on care needs
Audit Medication Administration Records (MARs) and communicate changes with pharmacy partners
Oversee medication administration processes and support resident safety initiatives
Monitor resident wellness and coordinate services with interdisciplinary team members
Community Leadership
Participate as an active member of the leadership team
Support Manager-on-Duty responsibilities as assigned
Participate in family meetings, community events, marketing initiatives, and resident engagement opportunities
Build strong relationships with residents, families, team members, and community partners
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and cognitive impairment
Knowledge of resident assessments, care planning, and quality-of-life initiatives
Understanding of medication administration procedures and documentation requirements
Experience reviewing incidents, resident changes in condition, and fall prevention strategies
Ability to coordinate effectively with physicians, healthcare providers, and families
Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills
Knowledge of senior living regulations and best practices
Understanding of the social, emotional, psychological, and recreational needs of memory care residents
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
Commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age
LPN and/or Recreational Therapist License preferred
Experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, or a related healthcare setting preferred
Experience working with residents living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia strongly preferred
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Passion for serving seniors and enhancing the lives of residents and families
Ability to create a supportive, engaging, and resident-focused environment
