About the Opportunity:
Brown University’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on the development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown’s intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of programs, including serving students outside of traditional degree programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master’s students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students.
Responsibilities:
The Associate Director of Admissions Systems (Slate Captain) serves as the primary architect and strategic lead for management of admissions systems for the Division of Master’s and Professional Programs across campus. Responsible for the technical health and innovation of the CRM (Slate) across 45+ master’s programs and executive education portfolios, this role is the creator of system solutions. Working closely with leadership, this individual is responsible for the functional and technical management of the CRM (Slate) and the interface with the University’s student information system (Banner). The Associate Director will work collaboratively with Brown departments including the Office of Information Technology, Financial Aid, the Registrar, the Graduate School, and Brown’s academic Schools and Departments to support master’s and executive education enrollment functions. The person in this role will represent the Division of Master’s and Professional Programs in campus-wide meetings and regional and national conferences related to technology. The Associate Director serves as the primary technical contact with the vendor Technolutions.
The Slate Captain drives the long-term technical roadmap, overseeing annual cycle transitions, one-time program launches, system upgrades, and the integration of emerging technologies to ensure a world-class applicant, faculty and staff experience. This position requires a visionary approach to system architecture, balancing the complex needs of diverse academic departments with the necessity for a unified, scalable school-wide infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in admissions systems or equivalent experience.
Expert-level knowledge of Technolutions Slate (Rules, Configurable Joins, Portals).
Ability to translate broad institutional goals into technical system requirements.
Demonstrated ability to architect solutions for intricate, multi-departmental workflows.
Proven success in managing large-scale, high-stakes system migrations or upgrades.
Preferred Experience
Experience developing and providing training to diverse populations of users
Experience translating data and business process needs between end users and technical staff
Experience with SQL, HTML, and CSS to customize queries, reports, forms, portals, and dashboards in Slate, and a desire to increase proficiency
