The Opportunity
McElhanney has an opportunity for an Intermediate or Senior Bridge Engineer to join our Kamloops, BC office. This role focuses on structural design, inspection, evaluation, and construction support for bridge projects. It is an excellent opportunity for an intermediate to senior engineer looking to advance their career in bridge engineering.
You will join McElhanney’s established bridge team, consisting of 45 engineers and technologists dedicated to the design of highway and pedestrian bridges throughout Western Canada. This group is supported by complimentary teams specializing in the design of marine structures, bridge construction supervision, and in plant quality assurance.
Our Interior BC Bridge Team continues to grow, and Kamloops remains a key hub for our bridge engineering practice. Location: Preference will be given to candidates based in Kamloops or those willing to relocate. Candidates located elsewhere in the BC Interior will also be considered.

What You’ll Do
Provide design support for structural projects, focused primarily on bridges, but also potentially the opportunity to work on the design of retaining walls, large diameter culverts, marine structures, and other transportation infrastructure.
Communicate and work in an integrated team environment to ensure project schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained.
Provide structural inspections and/or construction supervision for structural engineering projects.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in structural engineering.
5-15 years of bridge design and analysis experience.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PEng) in good standing in BC, or eligibility for registration.
Demonstrated experience applying local and relevant design codes and practices.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong initiative, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $150,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
