Qualifications:  All coaches in an IHSA sport must hold an Illinois Teaching Certificate/Substitute Certificate, ASEP certificate (American Sport Education Program) or have completed an approved national Federation of High Schools (NFHS) coaching certification program. Coaches must maintain current AED/CPR certification and meet all IHSA coaching certification annual requirements.

• Previous coaching experience
• Excellent organizational and communication skills 

Compensation: Based on experience assigned on the Athletic Extra Duty Stipend Schedule

Job Summary: The Assistant Coach will be responsible for helping build and maintain the cross country program which will include, but is not limited to: 

• Helping maintain levels of competition
• Assisting with summer camps for current and prospective players
• Assisting in monitoring all athletes academic progress
• Following and enforcing established eligibility requirements of District 12, KRC and the IHSA
• Assisting with individual practices to provide individual and team development
• Following team rules and goals that are shared with players and parents
• Following established procedures in the event of an injury to an athlete
• Ensuring all athletes are supervised at all times when involved with team activities
• Acting as a positive role model and maintaining proper sportsmanship on the team at all times
• Assisting in maintaining an inventory of all equipment
• Attending professional development clinics/conferences specific to cross country
