
Jr. Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Position Summary
The Junior Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance team in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role focuses on assisting with preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems while developing technical skills under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Execution
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) on production equipment
- Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Support repairs on conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and automated systems
- Follow work orders and document completed tasks in the CMMS
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Identify basic equipment issues and escalate complex problems
- Assist senior technicians in diagnosing faults using tools and test equipment
- Replace worn or defective components (belts, bearings, sensors, fuses, etc.)
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout)
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment (5S standards)
- Comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, and maintenance procedures
Continuous Improvement
- Participating in equipment improvement initiatives and reliability efforts
- Provide feedback on recurring equipment issues
- Support TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) activities and operator basic care
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical school or certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred
- 0–2 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance (internships count)
Technical Skills (Basic Level)
- Understanding of mechanical systems (bearings, chains, lubrication)
- Basic electrical knowledge (voltage, wiring, motors, safety)
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools
- Ability to read basic schematics or manuals (preferred)
- Exposure to PLCs is a plus (troubleshooting, not programming)

- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods
- Work in industrial environments (heat, noise, dust)
Work Environment
- Manufacturing / production facility
- May require shift work, weekends, and overtime
- On-call support may be required depending on operation
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience with CMMS systems
- Basic welding or fabrication skills
- Forklift or lift equipment certification
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance tools (vibration, infrared, etc.)
