
Director of Career and Technology Education (CTE/JTED)
Job Description
DEFINITION: Supervises the Career and Technical Education program including the management of staff, educational programming, relevant equipment/materials, budgets, and grant requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
- Works with building principals, program coordinators and other directors, to develop academic and CTE programs that prepare students for work and /or future education upon graduation
- Plans, implements, maintains and evaluates viable programs of career and technology education programs in the District's High Schools
- Coordinates local, state, federal CTE funds and acquires additional funds to enhance school reform and academic improvement
- Serves as the CTE contact person for business, industry, community service organizations and other educational entities
- Prepares, managers and verifies grant compliance for grants such as CTE, Basic Carl Perkins, ADE State Priority and JTED
- Secures additional revenues to support CTE programs and applied academic programs
- Assists District personnel with grant applications
- Directs the activities necessary to manage and develop new CTE programs for the District
- Compiles and submits all reports required by the District and the Arizona Department of Education
- Develops and maintains support systems necessary to meet the needs of all students enrolled in CTE programs by working with appropriate lead people
- Works with others to align and integrate Arizona State Academic Standards into CTE programs
- Works with the district high school supervision team and school administration to ensure access to CTE classes through appropriate master scheduling, sectioning and staffing, and student interventions
- Maintains continuous program improvement, to include supporting the achievement of all Perkins and CTE related CCRI measures
- Researches, procures, designs, and maintains industry-standard facilities, equipment, and technology
- Oversees CTE compliance with procurement laws and addresses vendors, as needed
- Develops internship, apprenticeship, job shadowing, and supervises and evaluates all CTE support staff
- Acts as liaison for the District in working with JTED and program development
- Provides Professional Development opportunities for teachers
- Organizes CTE Assessment as required by ADE
- Conducts annual program review with all CTE teachers and submit reports by ADE deadlines
- Attends monthly State and local CTE Directors' meetings
Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of state, federal and local legislative mandates for CTE.
Knowledge of District and Department policies and procedures.
Knowledge of student career development and the needs of special populations.
Knowledge of local, state and national labor market information as it affects program improvement.
Skill in working with community business and industry.
Skill in grant writing and management.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Skill in program and staff leadership and development.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor and lifting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree, preferably in school administration
A minimum of five years of experience at the high school, preferably in administration
A minimum of three years teaching or counseling experience
Arizona Administrator Certification
Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) fingerprint clearance card
Career & Technical Education experience preferred
