
(CSA) Assistant Cost Manager
Job Description
Role Overview
The Assistant Cost Manager – CSA will support the delivery of cost management services for Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) works on a large‑scale data centre development.
Working closely with senior team members, this role will assist in cost planning, procurement, and commercial management, ensuring cost control and accurate reporting throughout the project lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing professional to gain exposure to complex, mission‑critical construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Estimation Support
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, cost plans, and budget updates for CSA works.
- Support benchmarking and cost analysis to align project costs with market data.
- Provide input during design development to support cost optimisation and value engineering initiatives.
Procurement & Tendering
- Assist in preparing tender documentation for CSA trade packages.
- Support tender processes, including document issuance, tender queries, and preliminary analysis.
- Assist in compiling tender evaluation reports and commercial comparisons.
Post‑Contract Cost Management
- Support the management of variations, change orders, and cost tracking.
- Assist in reviewing contractor progress claims and certification processes.
- Maintain and update cost records, logs, and supporting documentation.
Reporting & Financial Control
- Prepare and assist in compiling cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial updates.
- Track project cost performance and highlight potential risks or variances.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all cost-related activities.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with senior cost managers, project managers, consultants, and contractors.
- Attend project meetings and support coordination between CSA and MEP works.
- Assist in ensuring smooth communication and alignment across stakeholders.
Governance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with project procedures, cost management standards, and reporting processes.
- Support the maintenance of accurate records in line with audit and governance requirements.
- Contribute to capturing lessons learned and project data for knowledge management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in cost management, quantity surveying, or construction-related roles.
- Exposure to CSA / building construction works is preferred.
- Experience in data centre, industrial, or large-scale projects is an advantage.
- Experience in a cost consultancy or professional services environment is preferred.
- Basic understanding of CSA construction works and cost elements
- Familiarity with cost planning, procurement, and contract administration processes
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good communication and stakeholder coordination ability
- Detail-oriented with a proactive and learning mindset
