Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Activities Aide to join our team. The Activities Aide plays an essential role in enhancing the quality of life for our adult and geriatric residents by planning, organizing, and leading meaningful recreational, social, and therapeutic activities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with seniors, has a positive attitude, and is committed to creating a welcoming, home-like environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, lead, and participate in daily recreational and therapeutic activities.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with residents, families, volunteers, and team members while maintaining resident confidentiality.
- Encourage resident participation and accurately document attendance and participation records.
- Assist with resident outings, special events, and community activities.
- Make daily facility announcements and distribute monthly activity calendars.
- Maintain attendance statistics and activity records using the facility's computer system.
- Follow up on resident questions, concerns, and activity requests.
- Assist with meal service during activity outings, including feeding assistance as directed by the Speech Therapist and recording nourishments.
- Supervise volunteers during activity programs.
- Provide daily care for facility pets according to established policies.
- Maintain activity areas by cleaning equipment, reporting maintenance concerns, and ensuring supplies are properly stocked.
- Promote a safe, clean, and comfortable environment by following infection control, safety, and risk management policies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of dementia care, behavior management, and abuse prevention and reporting.
- Attend all required in-service training and maintain required credentials.
- Work collaboratively with other departments and willingly assist with additional duties and coverage as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Activity Director or Quality of Life Coordinator.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience working in long-term care, assisted living, or with older adults is preferred but not required.
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and attendance tracking.
- Ability to meet all required health, safety, and credentialing requirements.
