
Associate, HR Business Partner - Investment Banking
Job Description
The successful candidate will provide proactive, high-quality HR partnership to the Investment Banking and Capital Markets division, supporting a global population of approximately 2,300 employees. Based in New York, this role combines strategic advisory work with operational execution. The individual will partner closely with investment bankers in New York and across offices in the U.S., Canada, and Brazil, as well as our global IB HR business partners in EMEA and APAC and the broader HR team.
The HR Associate Business Partner will serve as a trusted advisor to the business and provide support across a broad range of HR disciplines, including:
Performance Management
Partner closely with line managers to ensure the performance management process is delivered effectively. Responsibilities include coaching managers on mid-year and year-end reviews, supporting ratings and rankings processes, attending relevant roundtable meetings, preparing meeting materials, advising senior management on outcomes, and partnering with the global team to promote consistency across regions.
Employee Relations
Partner closely with Employment Legal Counsel on employee relations matters to mitigate risk and support effective resolution. This includes advising on performance-related issues, complaint handling, escalations, investigations, and timely, sensitive resolution of employee matters.
Compensation
Conduct internal and external compensation benchmarking and analysis. Support year-end compensation processes through system updates, process documentation, audits, and other ad hoc requirements.
Reporting
Maintain strong data integrity to support accurate reporting and analytics that enable data-driven business decisions. Prepare reports and analyses for IB senior leadership in a clear, concise, and actionable format.
AI Initiatives and Process Automation
Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes through AI-enabled tools and automation solutions to simplify workflows, improve scalability, and drive operational efficiencies across HR processes.
Talent Development
Assess training and development needs and partner with the Training & Development team to design and execute learning opportunities across all levels of the Investment Banking business.
Community & Engagement
Partner with the Community & Engagement team to support initiatives that strengthen culture, connectivity, and employee engagement across Jefferies.
Recruitment (Lateral and Campus)
Partner with recruiting teams on lateral and campus hiring, including compensation packages, hiring approvals, and ensuring consistency across roles and regions. Support a seamless onboarding experience for new hires.
Other
Manage ad hoc projects as required by IB HR and IB senior leadership. Support the timely implementation of Corporate HR initiatives, tailoring execution as needed to local and business requirements.
Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of HR experience within a global, highly matrixed financial services organization.
- Experience supporting Investment Banking or another front-office business is preferred.
- Broad exposure across core HR disciplines, including recruitment, performance management, talent management, promotions, retention, employee relations, and compensation.
- Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to build credibility quickly and partner effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent client service orientation, sound judgment, and a pragmatic, results-driven approach.
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate information clearly for management presentations.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with metrics, reporting, and data-driven decision support.
- HRIS experience, including system navigation, data maintenance, reporting, and process support.
- Experience with Power Apps and AI tools and ability to leverage workflow or automation tools to improve process efficiency is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills are required, including proficiency in PivotTables, XLOOKUP, Conditional Formatting, logical formulas, and functions such as SUMIFS and COUNTIFS, with the ability to analyze and present large data sets effectively.
Primary Location Full Time Salary Range of $90,000 - $100,000.

The salary offered will take into consideration an individual’s experience level and qualifications.
