Are you a passionate, people-focused leader looking to make a meaningful impact in veterinary medicine? VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley (VSV) is seeking an experienced Hospital Administrator to lead one of Southern California’s premier Emergency and Specialty hospitals. In this highly visible leadership role, you will oversee a talented team of approximately 90 associates, including specialists, emergency veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client service professionals. Partnering closely with hospital medical leadership, you will drive operational excellence, cultivate a positive and engaged culture, develop future leaders, and ensure an exceptional experience for our patients, clients, and associates. Located in Woodland Hills, California, VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley is a 24-hour Emergency and Specialty referral hospital serving pets and veterinarians throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Our hospital offers a comprehensive range of specialty services, including Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, and Radiology. The key responsibilities of the Hospital Administrator role include, but are not limited to: 

  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for hospital operations, financial performance, and achievement of business objectives.  

  • Maintain responsibility for the hospital's profit and loss performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource management.  

  • Partner closely with the Medical Director to support the delivery of exceptional patient care and advance the hospital's medical and operational goals.  

  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and inclusive culture that promotes engagement, accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.  

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of approximately 90 associates, including veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client service professionals.  

  • Develop future leaders through coaching, succession planning, and ongoing leadership development initiatives.  

  • Oversee associate onboarding, training, performance management, and career development programs.  

  • Support the recruitment, retention, and engagement of veterinary professionals and support staff.  

  • Drive operational excellence by optimizing workflows, improving efficiency, and ensuring a high-quality experience for patients, clients, and associates.  

  • Champion an exceptional client experience by establishing service standards, addressing concerns, and fostering a culture of client-centered care.  

  • Partner with hospital and regional leadership to identify growth opportunities and execute strategic initiatives that support long-term success.  

  • Collaborate with marketing to strengthen referral relationships, promote hospital services, and expand community presence.  

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, regulatory requirements, safety standards, and veterinary healthcare best practices. 

Qualifications: 

  • At least 5 years of managing a veterinary practice and financial budget management experience. 

  • College Degree, MBA preferred. At least 5 years of previous veterinary management experience. CVPM a plus or interest in obtaining. 

  • Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences and settings. 

  • The ability to make decisions, delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team members. 

  • Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, positive attitude. 

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and deal with an environment of changing priorities. 

Additional Information: 

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $95,000 - $120,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only.
