FALL MOUNTAIN REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
Position Title: Athletic Director
Terms of Employment: 218 days per year
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree (major in physical education preferred)
Registered Athletic Director status
Administrative experience a plus
Reports to: High School Principal and/or Assistant Principal
Supervises: All coaches and the Athletic Trainer
Evaluation: Annual by the High School Principal
Job Goal:
To work cooperatively with the high school administrative team and the middle school Activities Directors, in addition to effectively maintaining the Athletic Program.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing a Level 4 Athletic Program
- Be directly responsible to the Principal.
- Keep an up to date inventory of all interscholastic equipment and supplies; indicating when purchased, cost, condition by year, and disposition when replaced.
- Responsible for the cleaning, repairing and storing of all equipment at the close of each season for each activity.
- Develop and maintain the athletic budget for all sports.
- Develop the athletic schedules for all team sports with the aid of team coaches.
- Maintain and distribute a coach's handbook describing the duties and responsibilities for the coaches of each sport.
- Develop, along with the team coaches, a system for awarding letters and otherwise recognizing achievements by student athletes.
- Responsible for determining eligibility of all student athletes.
- Evaluate coaches each season and offer recommendations to the principal regarding the retention, replacement, or dismissing of interscholastic coaches.
- Participate in recruiting, screening, and selection of interscholastic coaches.
- Attend interscholastic athletic events that take place on school property, as appropriate.
- Develop plans and schedule the use of the gym and outdoor facilities for after school and evening practices by school teams or outside groups.
- Responsible for evaluating the athletic trainer yearly.
- Make all the transportation and other necessary arrangements for away interscholastic team trips.
- Oversee the use of school facilities for state or any other tournaments the school may agree to sponsor.
- Work closely with the physical education, and facilities department, to ensure the school building and grounds are well taken care of for athletic events.
- Responsible for the following for all home contests:
- Obtain officials and coordinates payment of services
- Obtain police officials when necessary
- Oversee the readiness of the outside or inside facility to be used
- Coordinate the needs of the visiting team
- Responsible for seeing that proper medical attention/materials are available and that adequate medical evacuation procedures are followed.
- Attend NHIAA meetings at the request of the administration.
- Does not act as an official at any home contest for remuneration.
- Responsible for obtaining required insurance for all athletic events.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
