Primary Function:
Under general supervision, coordinates and implements math interventions in grades K through 5 or as small group intervention teacher for students placed on Tier II or Tier III as defined by the MTSS model; engages and supports all students in learning in accordance with the State of Illinois learning standards; maintains and creates an effective environment for student learning; organizes subject matter for student learning; plans instruction and designs learning experiences for all students; assesses student learning; and continually develop oneself as a professional educator.
 

General Description:
The criterion indicated below are intended to describe various types of work that may be performed. The exclusion of specific responsibilities does not prohibit them if the work is similar, related, or a logical task of the position.

  • Provides appropriate levels of intervention learning experiences and teaches mathematics and other general elements of the course of study as specified in State law and in administrative regulations and procedures of the District in accordance with the State content standards.
  • Implements district-approved instructional materials that are research-based..
  • Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.
  • Maintains standards of classroom management strategies required to establish effective participation in all activities.
  • Assesses academic progress of students and electronically keeps appropriate records in the district student management system (ie. OTUS).
  • Prepares and provides growth reports and other formal/informal assessment data to classroom teachers.
  • Coordinates data digitally for access by parents as needed to maintain communication between the home and the school.
  • Collaborates with the Student Services and Teaching and Learning Departments with finding research backed interventions and/or progress monitoring tools to support specific skill gaps.
  • Provides appropriate instruction and activities for students to meet district policies, goals and objectives.
  • Communicates with classroom teachers on a weekly basis.
  • In conjunction with the general classroom teacher holds parent conferences as needed to discuss student progress and report card data to define a future course of action to close the achievement discrepancy with peers.
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other school colleagues to address student health, social emotional and learning needs.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district.
  • Maintains confidentiality with student records in accordance with the Illinois School Records Act.
  • Participates cooperatively with the building administrator(s), building leadership teams, and student problem solving teams to develop school improvements plans in accordance with district guidelines.
  • Identifies, recommends, secures, and maintains instructional materials.
  • Provides professional development to staff as appropriate.
  • Provides instruction using various instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Teacher Evaluation Plan.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel instructional materials and classroom tools. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The employee shall possess personal computing skills with the following types of software including web browsers, word processing, spreadsheet, and databases and student database systems. The employee shall use board approved resources, classroom textbooks, teacher manuals, technology, and assistive technology. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a classroom setting with children, occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions, and is subject to noises associated with an educational environment.


Qualifications: 

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with proper endorsement(s)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Appreciation of cultural diversity
  • Ability to effectively incorporate instructional technology

 

Working Conditions:

Salary: Per NSEA New Teacher Hire Grid for the 2026-2027 school year, excellent benefits, TRS Retirement Pension Service Credit, paid sick, personal, bereavement leave, and other benefits.

Selection Procedure:
