Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer

You will report to: Director of IT Platform Engineering

Located in Mexico City

We are looking for a Senior Platform Automation Engineer to join our Platform Automation Center of Excellence (PACE) team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a strong foundation in network engineering who has expanded (or is eager to expand) into infrastructure as code, workflow automation, CI/CD, and programming. You will design, build, and maintain automation solutions that reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery across Infrastructure and Operations.

You will report to the Manager of Platform Automation Engineering within the Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) department. You will work alongside a diverse team of engineers spanning network automation, DevOps, SRE, and workflow automation to drive a culture of pervasive automation and infrastructure-as-code adoption.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation workflows for provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of network devices, servers, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain reusable infrastructure-as-code templates and playbooks using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
  • Develop and operate CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure changes, including automated testing, validation, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with network engineering, cloud platforms, and security teams to translate manual processes into repeatable, version-controlled automation.
  • Contribute to the development of self-service automation capabilities and internal platform tooling.
  • Integrate workflow automation tools (e.g., BlinkOps) to orchestrate cross-domain processes and reduce operational toil.
  • Implement configuration compliance checks, drift detection, and automated remediation within provisioning pipelines.
  • Maintain source-of-truth data in tools such as NetBox and ensure data quality standards are met.
  • Explore and apply AI-assisted techniques to accelerate automation development and improve operational outcomes.
  • Document automation processes, architecture decisions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
  • Stay current with industry trends in automation, infrastructure as code, and platform engineering.

The Essentials - You Will Have

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have

  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure automation, or a related technical discipline.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with network technologies including routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless (Cisco, Palo Alto, or similar).
  • Advanced Level of English
  • Proficiency in Python and at least one infrastructure-as-code tool (Ansible, Terraform, or similar).
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and code review workflows.
  • Experience with API-driven automation using REST, NETCONF, or RESTCONF.
  • Exposure to workflow orchestration platforms and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, or similar).
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • We are looking for candidates with a strong background in automation and DevOps
