We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Transport Auditor – Delivery Partner Compliance to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring our subcontractor delivery partners operate in accordance with regulatory, contractual and safety requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity for a compliance professional with experience in transport, logistics, auditing or risk management to influence positive outcomes across a national delivery network.
About the Role
Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Transport Auditor will be responsible for auditing and monitoring subcontracted delivery partners to ensure compliance with Australian transport regulations, including National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) requirements, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations, Workplace Health and Safety legislation, and Modern Slavery requirements.
You will also manage subcontractor pre-qualification, compliance assurance, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives while partnering with internal stakeholders across Operations, Safety, Legal, Procurement, Risk and Compliance teams.
This role will involve regional travel as required.
Key Responsibilities
Audit & Compliance Assurance
- Plan, coordinate and conduct compliance audits across subcontracted delivery partner operations.
- Assess compliance with NHVR regulations, Chain of Responsibility obligations, fatigue management requirements, vehicle standards, load restraint practices and driver qualifications.
- Develop and maintain audit frameworks, checklists and compliance assessment tools.
- Identify non-compliance risks and provide practical recommendations and corrective action plans.
- Monitor delivery partner compliance performance and escalate significant risks where required.
- Maintain accurate audit records and documentation to support internal and external audit requirements.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and incorporate updates into audit processes.
Delivery Partner Governance & Compliance Management
- Manage subcontractor pre-qualification and onboarding processes.
- Verify and maintain compliance documentation including:
- Licences
- Permits
- Insurance certificates
- Safety certifications
- Regulatory accreditations
- Evaluate subcontractor management systems against TGE standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance databases and reporting systems.
- Support subcontractors in addressing compliance gaps before contract commencement or renewal.
- Partner with Legal and Procurement teams to ensure compliance requirements are embedded within contractual agreements.
Investigations & Stakeholder Management
- Conduct and support investigations relating to subcontractor incidents and compliance breaches.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
- Provide guidance to subcontractors regarding compliance expectations and improvement initiatives.
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in risk reviews and continuous improvement activities.
Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Audit subcontractor safety management systems and workplace safety practices.
- Verify safety induction programs, training records and PPE compliance.
- Monitor fatigue management, vehicle safety and load restraint compliance.
- Support implementation and monitoring of corrective actions following incidents or safety breaches.
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the delivery partner network.
- Escalate critical safety risks and contribute to safety performance reviews.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- 3–5 years' experience in transport compliance, auditing, risk management or regulatory assurance.
- Strong knowledge of:
- National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) requirements
- Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation
- Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) legislation
- Modern Slavery obligations
- Experience auditing subcontractors, contractors or transport operators.
- Exposure to contract management and subcontractor governance frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Willingness to travel regionally as required.
Desirable Qualifications
- Qualifications in Transport, Logistics, Compliance, Risk Management, Auditing or a related discipline.
- Formal auditing or compliance certifications.
- Experience within transport, logistics, supply chain or freight operations.
