The Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) is an institution that represents 100 years of growth from a small school of veterinary medicine in 1916 to its present role as a major veterinary educational, medical, and research center. Today, we are one of the largest schools of veterinary medicine in the United States, training nearly 600 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students each year. What we want

The Research Assistant will support a collaborative study examining artificial intelligence (AI) use transparency and ethical practices in veterinary scientific publishing. The research aims to investigate how veterinary journal editors perceive and evaluate different levels of AI application in manuscript preparation and to develop evidence-based guidance for AI disclosure policies. This is a wage position established to accommodate a temporary organizational need. As such, TAMU does not guarantee any set number of hours or length of employment in this role

Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.   

Location/Schedule: College Station, TX/ Part-Time

Responsibilities

Research

  • Developing concrete AI use case examples with corresponding prompts and outputs

  • Supporting survey design and distribution

  • Assisting with data collection and organization

 

Publications

  • Contributing to literature review and manuscript preparation

Information 

  • Identifying and compiling contact information for veterinary journal editors

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Research experience

  • Analytical skills

  • Bilingual capability

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.

  • Attention to detail
