We operate at the forefront of fast-evolving open-source ecosystems, integrating these technologies into a robust platform designed to meet the demanding requirements of edge computing, including high availability, security, and scalability.

Our team delivers core platform capabilities such as configuration management, fault management, and host management. We are also a leading contributor to the open-source StarlingX project (https://www.starlingx.io/) which provides a fully integrated cloud platform optimized for distributed edge environments, with a strong focus on 5G and telecom use cases.

We are seeking a versatile, high-performing Cloud Software Developer specializing in networking and time-sensitive systems to help design and build next-generation cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance cloud-native platform components for the Wind River Cloud Platform
  • Develop features related to Kubernetes networking, including CNI plugins (e.g., Calico) and multi-network configurations
  • Implement and optimize support for SR-IOV and other high-performance networking technologies
  • Develop and integrate Precision Time Protocol (PTP) capabilities to support time-sensitive and low-latency workloads (e.g., 5G use cases)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across distributed systems, including networking, timing synchronization, and infrastructure layers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions
  • Contribute to open-source projects, particularly StarlingX and related ecosystems
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code, with appropriate unit and integration tests
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and continuous improvement of engineering practices

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in software development for distributed or cloud-native systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python, C/C++, and/or Go, with experience building backend or infrastructure components
  • Solid experience working in Linux environments, including system-level debugging and performance analysis
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and container platforms (e.g., Docker)
  • Experience with Kubernetes networking, including CNI plugins (e.g., Calico) and network policy implementation
  • Strong understanding of Linux networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, bridging, bonding)
  • Experience with SR-IOV or other high-performance data plane technologies
  • Experience with Precision Time Protocol (PTP), including configuration, synchronization, and troubleshooting in distributed systems
  • Experience with virtual switching technologies (e.g., Open vSwitch (OVS)) is highly desirable
  • Experience with DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) is highly desirable
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve productivity and development workflows
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex system-level issues
