Job Description
Gaylor Electric is seeking a highly organized and detail-driven Project Engineer to support our Engineering team within our Production Innovation Center.
This role sits at the intersection of estimating, proposals, project setup, and engineering operations, helping ensure our work is accurate, well-documented, and set up for successful execution from day one.

Estimating & Preconstruction Support
Assist with electrical estimating for:
Design‑Build projects
Plan & Specification (Plan‑Spec) projects
Design‑Assist projects
Support quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, and estimate organization
Document estimating assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, and risks
Coordinate estimate reviews with the Engineering Operations Manager
Maintain historical estimating data and reference pricing
Proposal Development & Review
Prepare and assemble engineering and estimating proposals, including:
Scope of work
Fee structures and breakdowns
Schedule assumptions
Inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications
Review all proposals with the Engineering Operations Manager prior to release
Track proposal revisions, approvals, and submissions
Ensure consistency with company standards and pricing strategy
Project Setup, Financial Tracking & Billing (Spectrum)
Use Spectrum to:
Pull project budget, cost, and status reports
Set up new projects after award
Maintain accurate job cost and budget visibility
Assist with project financial tracking and internal reporting
Prepare billing documentation and invoices after Engineering Operations Manager approval
Track billing schedules, change orders, and revenue milestones
Administrative & Day‑to‑Day Operations Support
Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the Engineering Operations Manager
Manage calendars, meeting schedules, travel arrangements, and action‑item follow‑ups
Prepare agendas, presentations, reports, and meeting minutes
Maintain organized project documentation, trackers, and dashboards, including:
Schedules
KPIs
Risks and issues
Action logs
Required Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2–5 years of experience in, estimating support or project administration
Working knowledge of Engineering estimates delivery models
Experience using Spectrum or similar construction ERP systems
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
