Interventional Radiology Technician, PRN - One UMMS Staffing Center
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Interventional Radiology (IR) Technician to support minimally invasive, image-guided procedures at our client healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate will assist physicians during procedures, ensure patient safety, and maintain high standards of imaging quality and sterile technique.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist interventional radiologists during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as angiograms, stent placements, biopsies, and embolization's
- Prepare and maintain procedure rooms, ensuring proper sterile field and equipment readiness
- Operate imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy and digital radiography systems
- Monitor patient vital signs and provide support before, during, and after procedures
- Administer contrast media under physician supervision, following safety protocols
- Ensure accurate documentation of procedures and patient records
- Maintain compliance with radiation safety standards and infection control guidelines
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare staff to ensure optimal patient care
- Perform routine equipment checks and report any malfunctions
Work Experience
Education & Experience - Required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field
- Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- State licensure (if required by assignment location)
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a hospital imaging setting required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
