Scientist

Summary:

We’re seeking a Scientist to join Momentive’s Specialty Additives business, driving the development of cutting-edge solutions for adhesives and sealants through hands-on experimentation and cross-functional collaboration.

Please note that this role requires on-site presence five days per week, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Able to work closely with other senior scientists and engineers in the team ·
  • Execute focused project, and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks ·
  • Carry out lab experiments with guidance from senior scientists or immediate supervisors to prepare and test Adhesive & Sealant samples ·
  • Analyze, summarize and communicate experimental results to project team in simple and clear manner ·
  • Lab operation and maintenance, including chemical inventory, lap supplies, and equipment ISO calibration ·
  • Experimental sample preparation, shipping and receiving ·
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, sales, process technology or production teams ·
  • Occasional interfacing with external customers or participating conferences
  • Travel up 10% domestically after a year.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science & Engineering
  • 2+ years of relevant lab or materials development experience
  • Hands-on laboratory experience conducting experiments and testing materials
  • Ability to analyze and clearly communicate experimental results
  • Strong understanding of chemical and lab safety practices

The following are preferred for the role

  • Masters in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Materials science & engineering
  • Experience with Adhesive and Sealants
  • Good understanding of chemistry and material structure-property relationship
  • Experience with basic material characterization tools, including, mechanical properties using Instron, FTIR, titration, viscometer, etc.

What We Offer:

Base Pay Range: $86,500 - $127,050

The actual salary offered is determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, skill sets, and geography. Additionally, this role is eligible for incentive or sales variable compensation payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company's incentive plans, the Company's financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.
