Job Description
The American University in the Emirates (AUE) invites applications from highly qualified Ph.D. holders for full-time faculty positions in the College of Education. Successful candidates will be expected to teach, conduct research, provide academic advising, and actively contribute to university service and community engagement.
Academic Year: 2026–2027 (Starting August 2026)
Position: Full-time Faculty – Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor
Areas of Specialization
Applicants may teach in one or more of the following disciplines:
- Social Sciences & Sociology
- Anthropology
- English Language
- English Literature
- Education
- Artificial Intelligence
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Tolerance Studies
- Psychology
Instruction Language: English & Arabic
Teaching Load: 12 credit hours per academic semester
Preference: Candidates with bilingual competence are highly encouraged to apply.
Job Purpose
Faculty members are responsible for:
- Delivering high-quality teaching and assessment
- Providing academic advising to students
- Participating in administrative and committee activities
- Engaging in professional and community service
Qualifications & Education
- Ph.D. in Special Education or a related field from an accredited or recognized university
- Completion of Ph.D. by the time of recruitment
- At least 18 credit hours of graduate studies in the relevant field
- Minimum two research publications in Scopus-indexed journals
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in an internationally accredited university
- Minimum 3 publications in the last 5 years
- Proven record of excellence in teaching at both baccalaureate and graduate levels

Job Responsibilities
1. Instructional Delivery (Teaching Performance)
- Deliver research- and practice-driven teaching using modern pedagogical techniques
- Stimulate inquiry and critical thinking
- Develop engaging assessments aligned with learning outcomes
2. Instructional Management
- Efficiently manage the teaching and learning process
3. Assessment and Evaluation
- Evaluate and grade students fairly
- Provide clear assessment criteria reflecting course content and outcomes
- Avoid cognitive biases in assessment
4. Curriculum Development and Review
- Contribute to ongoing curriculum review and enhancement
- Ensure content is current, relevant, and intellectually rigorous
- Support effective application of theories and principles
5. Research and Scholarship
- Engage in scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Contribute to the university’s mission through academic scholarship
6. Professional Development
- Pursue latest academic, professional, and technological developments
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and training sessions
7. Academic Advising and Student Success
- Guide students in program learning outcomes, curriculum planning, and career development
8. Service
- Participate in university projects, accreditation processes, recruitment, research administration, and community service
