Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and Repair CNC Equipment: Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on CNC machines—including mills, lathes, grinders, hobbing equipment, saws, and auxiliary systems—to maximize uptime and quality.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and servo system problems using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Electrical and Control Systems: Use electrical test equipment to identify and resolve control-related issues. Calibrate and align machine components to meet precision standards.
  • Safety and Compliance: Strictly follow LOTO procedures and all plant safety standards, maintaining a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Preventative Maintenance Ownership: Take responsibility for assigned maintenance tasks, ensuring timely completion in line with production schedules.
  • Documentation: Update and track machine repairs, downtime logs, and parts usage in the maintenance management system.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with machine operators and supervisors to identify recurring equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist with machine installation, upgrades, relocations, and improvement initiatives. Fabricate and implement tooling and fixturing as needed.
  • Tooling Management: Monitor perishable tooling levels and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support production and facility operations.

Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise: Strong troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of CNC machining technology, facility maintenance systems, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Reading and Interpretation: Ability to read and understand diagrams, blueprints, ladder logic, schematics, and technical manuals for mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • PLC and CNC Controls: Experience with PLC troubleshooting and CNC control systems.
  • Hands-On Skills: Proficient in using electrical test equipment, basic welding, light fabrication, and machine alignments with precision measuring tools.
  • Programming Aptitude: Familiarity with CNC programming (especially M-Code) and machine operation is a plus.
  • Communication: Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 70 pounds, perform repetitive motions, and operate in various physical positions (standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching). Specific vision abilities required.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing Setting: Exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, dirt/dust, and pressurized systems.
  • Flexible Shifts: Day, evening, and weekend shifts may be required. Overtime as needed. After successful training on 1st shift, opportunities to transition to other shifts based on business needs and mutual agreement.
  • Mobility: Ability to move throughout the plant, work around mechanical and electrical equipment, climb, push/pull, and drive locally as required.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of maintenance troubleshooting and repair experience in a manufacturing environment servicing CNC equipment.
  • Extensive electrical troubleshooting experience required.
  • Prior experience with CNCs, paper machines, printing presses, or other manufacturing processing machines.
  • Computer literate in Windows-based systems.

Licenses/Credentials/Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s license with no minor moving violations within the most recent 36-month period and no major violations or suspensions in the most recent 60-month period.


$25.00 - $30.00 per Hour
