Job Summary
Under the guidance of the Supervisor, Business Systems, the successful candidate will work alongside other colleagues with the primary responsibility of providing applications management and support to the immediate and extended teams, but working in close coordination, and acting as liaison with, other corporate sections.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safekeeping the integrity of major Transit computer-based systems.
- Efficiently managing the interfacing between applications and ensuring maximum data consistency across the system.
- Monitor data integrity and track defects arising during testing using a systematic approach.
- Facilitating data management and creating appropriate reporting tools to meet immediate needs as well as broader divisional and corporate information demands.
- Act as a technical lead on select projects to support with transit system objectives and standards.
- A high level of coordination beyond section boundaries; this is expected to ensure optimization of all technology efforts, leading the incumbent to play a role as a divisional resource in the generation of transit-related business cases in support of other teams across the Corporation.
- Contribute to system improvements by identifying performance issues and recommending approaches to improve efficiency.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Graduate degree, preferably in Mathematics, Computer Sciences or a related discipline.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years experience with automated data systems, database querying methods, and a solid understanding of data relationships.
- Familiar with business administration and information management.
- Previous involvement in facilitating business process changes linked to the adoption of new technologies.
- A solid background in software implementation projects and knowledge of the public transit industry would be highly desirable.
- In depth knowledge of transit-specific applications would be considered a relevant asset.
- The ideal candidate would show strength in strategic thinking about data management, preferably with a sound background in fostering systems integration on a large corporate network.
- A track record of excellence in customer care should be matched by relevant experience in tackling complex tasks, both individually as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong technical leadership, negotiating and team-building skills.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
- Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications and concepts.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Ability to liaise with internal and external audiences.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $91,701.00 - $122,268.00
