Role Overview


The Multi‑Skilled Mechanic performs a wide range of maintenance activities to support the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment, buildings, and facilities. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance across multiple disciplines, including mechanical systems, pipefitting, and welding. The position requires technical versatility and consistent adherence to safety and quality standards. The role operates in a hands‑on industrial environment and supports overall equipment reliability.


Key Responsibilities


• Perform pipefitting, welding, and mechanical maintenance on industrial equipment and systems
• Troubleshoot and repair pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and related equipment using appropriate tools and techniques
• Operate machining equipment and precision tools to support maintenance and fabrication work
• Use rigging equipment and mobile machinery to safely move and install components
• Read and follow technical manuals, procedures, and safety documentation while completing maintenance tasks


Required Qualifications


• Ability to read and understand instruction manuals, job procedures, safety policies, and technical documentation
• 1–8 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience based on mechanic classification and skill level
• Demonstrated skills in pipefitting, welding, mechanical systems, and use of maintenance tools and equipment
• Basic math skills, including use of fractions, decimals, and metric measurements, and ability to collect and interpret data
• Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces


Preferred Qualifications


• Previous classification as Multi‑Skilled, First‑Class, or Second‑Class Mechanic
• Experience working within a structured maintenance skills matrix evaluation system
• Familiarity with industrial environments involving dust, chemicals, and high or low temperatures
• Experience operating forklifts, cranes, or rigging equipment
