THE POSITION
Canyon State Electric is seeking an experienced electrician to deliver our in-house NCCER electrical apprenticeship curriculum on a part-time basis. This is a hands-on teaching role that combines classroom instruction with practical lab work to develop the next generation of CSE field talent.
The instructor brings real-world jobsite experience into the training environment, ensuring apprentices master both NCCER theory and the practical skills CSE expects on data center, healthcare, and commercial projects. Classes run on a second-shift, afternoon schedule to accommodate apprentices working day-shift field hours. The ideal candidate is a working or recently-working journeyman or master electrician who is energized by mentoring and committed to safety and craftsmanship.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver NCCER electrical curriculum (Levels 1–4) through classroom instruction and supervised hands-on lab sessions.
- Prepare lesson plans, lab exercises, and assessments aligned to NCCER standards and CSE's field requirements.
- Evaluate apprentice performance, administer module tests, and accurately record completions in the NCCER registry.
- Set up, maintain, and ensure safe operation of training equipment, tools, and lab materials.
- Model and enforce electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E, OSHA, lockout/tagout) throughout all instruction.
- Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to support apprentice progression and retention.
- Coordinate with the Director of UCSE on scheduling, curriculum updates, and program improvements.
- Maintain attendance, progress, and certification documentation for compliance and reporting.
- Communicate apprentice progress and any performance concerns to program leadership and, as appropriate, field supervisors.
- Maintain consistent availability for scheduled second-shift, afternoon class and lab sessions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Journeyman or Master Electrician.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial/industrial electrical field experience; data center or healthcare experience a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of the NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and communicate technical concepts to adult learners.
- Reliable, organized, and comfortable managing both classroom and lab environments.
- Proficiency with basic computer/LMS tools for recordkeeping and NCCER registry entry.
- High school diploma or GED required; additional trade or instructional credentials a plus.
Pay Range: $35 - $48/hr
