Job Description:

Position Purpose:

The Canadian Staff Worship Team NEON (CSWT) exists to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through inspired music, spoken word, and faithful service within The Salvation Army in Canada. The CSWT Leader plays a vital role in guiding the team to fulfill this mission, strengthening worship ministry and advancing the Army’s spiritual and evangelical work. By supporting the growth and development of music ministry at all levels, the leader helps proclaim the gospel both individually and corporately, enriching worship and discipleship across the organization. This role contributes to The Salvation Army’s mission by fostering spiritually grounded, excellent worship that supports its ministry, outreach, and witness in Canada.

This is a part-time role at 15 hours per week.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Model Christ-centred leadership by consistently demonstrating Christian faith, morals, and values in personal conduct and ministry.

  • Ensure compliance with the CSWT Manual of Operation and Terms of Reference to support accountable and effective team governance.

  • Mentor worship team members by nurturing their spiritual growth and encouraging their development as disciples and leaders.

  • Direct weekly rehearsals and musical preparation to achieve a high standard of worship leadership and readiness for ministry.

  • Select repertoire and ministry approaches that align with the mission and vision of The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda and advance the CSWT mandate.

  • Lead CSWT ministry engagements by providing clear musical, spiritual, and organizational leadership in collaboration with the Executive Officer.

  • Coordinate the CSWT itinerary, including rehearsals, engagements, and recordings, in consultation with the Executive Committee to ensure effective planning and delivery.

  • Strengthen worship ministry impact by developing personal leadership skills, supporting Salvation Army music and arts programs, and upholding copyright and administrative responsibilities.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal post-secondary/college diploma of two academic years in Music or/and Arts. Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Three years or more related experience as a worship team member or group leader.

  • Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and applies it to all role responsibilities.

  • Complies with all Salvation Army policies, procedures, applicable legislation, and health and safety (OH\&S) requirements.

  • Meets organizational screening and operational requirements, including background checks, driving credentials, and responsible care of Salvation Army property.

  • Acts as a professional, engaged representative of the organization and contributes positively as a reliable team member.

  • Builds and sustains respectful, collaborative relationships with staff, volunteers, corps members, and the broader community.

  • Communicates effectively through strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills, demonstrating integrity, adaptability, and self-discipline.

  • Utilizes technology and digital tools effectively, including Microsoft Office, digital music platforms, file sharing, and responsible social media engagement.

  • Brings passion for music, leadership, and ministry development, with musical skills such as composition, arrangement, and worship planning considered assets.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this part-time position is $19,000 - $21,000. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
