About the Role
OpenLoop is looking for a Clinical Informaticist to join our team remotely. This role will be a member of the Clinical & Informatics team and report to the Senior Medical Director of Clinical & Informatics. The role will center around serving as a clinical subject matter expert for our product and project teams and developing and maintaining the clinical data sets that power clinical decision support and drive clinical workflows across our platform.
What You'll Do
Serve as the clinical subject matter expert (SME) for product and project teams, providing guidance on clinical workflows, clinical knowledge, and best practices for clinical data
Design, build, test, and update clinical data assets that provide clinical decision support and drive clinical workflows, - ensuring their ongoing accuracy, completeness, and clinical validity over time
Translate clinical requirements into workflow and informatics/data specifications, and validate that delivered features reflect sound clinical reasoning
Analyze clinical data to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement, and apply findings to enhance decision support logic and workflow automation
Review technical specifications for clinical workflow applications to provide clinical informatics input - and provide support as SME and IC for product managers leading clinical application products
Maintain and curate mappings to standardized clinical and medical vocabularies, supporting interoperability and consistency across systems
Collaborate with clinical, product, and engineering stakeholders to ensure data-driven features are safe, usable, and clinically meaningful
Partner with clinical leadership to support guideline development, clinical content governance, and quality and product enhancements
Work closely with Quality and Clinical Training/Education teams to identify areas of improvement for clinical workflows across the organization; collaboratively design and implement solutions

Who You Are
Active, unrestricted clinical license (e.g., MD/DO, PharmD, NP, PA) and current board certification in the relevant clinical discipline required
Formal training in clinical informatics (e.g., graduate coursework, certificate, or board certification in Clinical Informatics) is strongly preferred
5+ years of clinical practice experience required
5+ years of experience in hands-on clinical informatics work, to include data development, data analysis, and data maintenance
Strong working knowledge of clinical workflows and experience working in or with multiple EHR systems
Demonstrated clinical informatics experience, ideally in a setting that blends clinical knowledge with data development to support clinical decision making and workflows
High Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL required
Knowledge of and/or experience with FHIR, FHIR resource model, and FHIRpath syntax
Computer proficient with Google Suite, Zoom, Zoho, Notion, Slack and other similar platforms
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to reason through complex clinical and data-modeling problems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to act as a translator between clinical and technical audiences
Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple teams and stakeholders
Able to quickly pivot as needed in a rapidly growing startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building or maintaining clinical content, terminology mappings, or decision-support data sets is strongly preferred
Experience working with Claude/Claude code or other AI models to assist with data design, QA, and integrity is a plus
Experience working as an informaticist for a clinical data or medical vocabulary company (e.g., LOINC, SNOMED CT, Medi-Span, First Databank (FDB), Lexicomp) is a plus
